After acquiring Autonomy, shutting down WebOS and planning to dump HP's entire PC business, which would result in downsizing more than 500 employees, CEO Léo Apotheker himself gets fired and replaced by Meg Whitman. Oh, the irony!
It's still up in the air what will happen to Apotheker's plans, but a statement of disagreement has clearly been made.

HP plans to split Palm into two companies.
Hewlett-Packard is planning to split Palm into two divisions: hardware and software. Hmm... I'm having a déjà vu here. Where have I heard that before?..
Remember, back in 2003, when Palm split into palmSource (software) and palmOne (hardware)? It's been going through a shitstorm ever since.
HP has recently acquired Palm, in April 2010, and subsequently released their first tablet computer, the HP TouchPad. Even more recently, just a couple of weeks ago, HP discontinued the TouchPad, and announced that it's getting rid of the handheld device business (Palm) entirely. They do intend to retain the software part of the business within HP, most likely for patents.
